Rafted, kayaked, and swam the Middle Rogue this weekend. And I imagined that Hellgate Canyon had the perfect combination of sculpted rock and deep water.
But the rock was like oil on a pane of glass. Slick does not begin to describe the cliffs. I was climbing what appeared to be 5.6, not even vertical rock, and I was absolutely skating, gripped, padding my feet, barely avoiding a bouncing fall down into the river.
Still perfect though.
Rock climbing and cliff jumping are never bad.
