AGNI rejected a short story.

The Indiana Review rejected a short story.

The New Yorker rejected an essay.

The New York Times Magazine asked me to reformat an essay so that they could then reject it.

  1. Yup, sounds about average to me…I had two ideas rejected this week by the NYT and NYT Magazine and am awaiting an answer on an essay submitted to their Modern Love column (very high rate of rejection there!)

“Rejection to a writer is like blood to a surgeon, a necessary and messy part of every workday.”
