VICE Magazine’s Review + Miriam Gershow

Two new reviews this week for my forthcoming novel, Graphic the Valley:

“The narrator’s Yosemite is a sacred place…captured in Hoffmeister’s lean, immaculate, and devastating prose.” – River Donaghey, VICE Magazine Contributor

“Peter Hoffmeister is as ambitious as he is original. Graphic the Valley is many things at once: an ode to a place, a romance, a family drama, and a cautionary tale. From page one, it will surprise you. By the end, it will leave you surprisingly moved.” – Miriam Gershow, author of The Local News

  1. As a Travel Facilitator-Interpreter for foreign visitors to the Southwest, Yossemite is a place we visit in many seasons. It is never the same and its magic remains with all the visitors however short the visit..What pains me is that there is a minute percentage left of the Old growth and I firmly believe that we have to make a concerted effort to replant and reforest.
    What Would John Muir Say..

About the Sierra Club being led by Michael Brune, Accountant-in-Chief, and old-growth forest logging apologist? And as we prepare to celebrate Earth Day, will Madison Progressives see through his greenwash of logging ancient, sacred wildlands for toilet paper and books?”The clearest way into the Universe is through a forest wilderness.” – John Muir

“Any fool can destroy trees. They cannot run away; and if they could, they would still be destroyed — chased and hunted down as long as fun or a dollar could be got…” – John Muir

“The battle we have fought, and are still fighting for the forests is a part of the eternal conflict between right and wrong, and we cannot expect to see the end of it.” – John Muir

“By choosing to sell FSC-certified wood, The Home Depot is walking its talk.” – Michael Brune, Executive Director, Sierra Club

    • Great quotes. Thank you. Have you seen the old pics of the Valley from Glacier Point Apron versus the new ones? Things look very different…
